Commercial Roofing Field Superintendent/Operations Manager available at: 

Summary of Position: Under the general direction of Executive Management, Superintendents plan, coordinate, and oversee the installation, replacement, and/or repair of commercial, low-slope and steep-slope roof systems.  It is the responsibility of Superintendents to directly communicate with roofing crews on all days and to coordinate work schedules for the crews.  It is essential that Superintendents understand and follow all safety policies of Bulldog Group, Inc., and help with the implementation of the policies by ensuring that all members of roofing crews understand and follow the Bulldog Group, Inc. safety policies as well.     


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Study and understand job specifications to determine materials needed and appropriate construction methods;

  • Prepare the site and correspond with other construction professionals such as architects, engineers, building owners, and other contractor trades prior to roofing work starting;

  • Develop and implement a program of work and strategy for making the project happen successfully;

  • Plan ahead to prevent problems on site before they occur (for example-plan the delivery and storage of equipment and materials);

  • Write Purchase Orders for projects as necessary (this is lessened by planning ahead and communicating with foremen and project managers/estimators);

  • When coordinating delivery of materials by our CDL drivers, ensure appropriate Trip & Fuel Permits are purchased PRIOR to delivery of materials;

  • Conduct safety inspections of the site when work is underway and ensure regulations and company policies relating to health, safety, and the environment are adhered to;

  • Oversee the running of multiple projects simultaneously;

  • Plan, schedule, manage, and communicate with crews effectively and in a proactive (rather than reactive) manner;

  • Implement and oversee the utilization of FCS (Facility Control Systems) through the duration of each project;

  • Enter the material requisitions into Computer Ease for projects;

  • Coordinate with Estimator during closeout to ensure all necessary documents are compiled and sent;

  • Direct the work of unskilled and semi-skilled helpers and skilled workers (Roofer Helpers, Roofers, Lead Roofers, and Foremen) in take offs and installations, assuring that proper safety practices are followed.

  • Organize and direct weekly Monday morning safety meetings for all employees.

Education, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Superintendents must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Must have the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. 

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to make decisions independently are required.

  • Superintendents must be forward-thinking planners, with exceptional people skills and the ability to present ideas and negotiate.

  • Superintendents must have the ability to safely ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and/or stairs on a daily basis.

  • Superintendents must also work outside in both extreme cold (below 32 degrees F) and heat (above 95 degrees F) throughout the year. 

  • The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check. 

  • A motor vehicle report will be run annually.
